In 1909, if you wanted to talk to a neighbour, shopkeeper or business, you had to go there in person. In 2009, you just pick up the telehone and make a call. What are you doing now? Do you have a job, are you self employed, are you a small business owner, an investor or between opportunities right now? Money is a real big issue right now.  This overall concept is not taught at school because the educational system is designed to produce good employees, not people who are always looking at alternate income streams. If there is one good result from this whole economic meltdown it is that people will begin to focus on multiple income sources so present results are not repeated in the future.

Beach Money is the title of a new book by Jordan Adler. I like the phrase "beach money" because it neatly sums up in 2 words the lifestyle that many people yearn for that can only be achieved throught the creation of wealth in the form of passive or residual income or "beach money". Richard Bliss Brooke termed it "maibox money" in an e book about the promise of network marketing. Paul Conn in his book "Uncommon Freedom" summed it in nicely in two words too. I just want to make one thing perfectly clear here: we are not suggesting that money will solve all your problems or buy happiness. It will buy you some time and certainly increase your options. If I have a choice between going through life without money or going through life with money, the second option will win every single time. I also want to make the point that money is only a tool and for many people the "time" and "freedom" part of this trilogy are far more important than the money. You can always make money. You can't make time.

Time Money Freedom: how do you get it?

Beach Money Business

Well, it's not likely you'll find "time-money-freedom" at the beach unless there's lots of people you know there and you're selling something like cotton candy or ice cream cones. TMF is a paycheque that arrives every week or month in your mailbox or in your inbox. But it comes in whether you went to work this week or not. If you're on vacation, it still comes in. If you're sick, it still comes in. Please do not misunderstand me here: even though you may not have done the work last week or last month, you still did the work at some time to develop the income stream that arrives in your mailbox or inbox. It's not free money but it does give you freedom. Freedom to go the the beach at 9 am instead of going to work. Most beaches are deserted Monday to Friday. Most everybody is at work.

What's the key difference here. The person who shows up for work at 9 am every day has made a lifetime commitment to go to a place of work Monday to Friday usually. It's called a job. You trade a certain amount of your time for a certain amount of money. The time and the money is usually decided by the employer and you consent to accept it. Many people do this because they think that's how everyone else makes money. Well about 90 % do make money this way but about 10 % do not. When you have a regular job, the beach is out from 9 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday. As is golf, sailing, shopping, family time and a just about everything else except work.

These are all examples of products or services that get consumed by us. When we've consumed them, we have to go out and buy more. Guess who makes a profit every time we do that? That's basically passive or residual money being created for someone else.

Excuses are useless, and any excuse will do, if you don't want to do something. There's only one thing that matters no matter what your circumstances: do you want to change your life or not? If you have "circumstances" get out from under them and quit making them an excuse. You'll never have beach money if you don't.
